We would like to extend a big thanks to all of the people who have supported us by reading our blog and leaving comments on the site!
Our presentation went extremely well yesterday and that was in large part due to the overwhelmingly positive reaction we have received from people like you.
Thanks!
(and yes we wore our t-shirts for the presentation!)

Another thank you must go out to Londonist.com for the interview they posted yesterday about our project. If you would like to read the interview, the text is posted below. Londonist Interviews: Some People Who Like Walking

Anyone walking past Holborn Tube is sure to have all kinds of leaflet thrust upon them. But if you were passing by last Friday, you might have ended up with something worthwhile. A group of postgrads from St Martin's have put together a handy map of zone 1 showing just how short the distances are between stations. The idea is to encourage more people to walk, rather than take public transport, and thus do their bit for cutting emissions. We caught up with them over the weekend...

Hi I read your article in the London Lite today and actually remember seeing you outside a building one morning last week wearing your shirts. I remember trying to read the shirts at the time and not being able to make out what they said. Now that I read your article I'd love to find a copy of the map you made. I wish I'd been about to pick one up when you were doing handouts last week.

I suspect I won't be the only person to come to this site as a result of the article and wonder if there's a link to the map you made?

Yours hopefully

David

You can download our map from our blog. Simply go back to the main page where you should find the map to download.

Thanks

Hi there

I saw your article yesterday and I stupidly left the paper on the train so I don't have a copy of the map.

I too would love to have a copy. Can you put one on your website so we can print it off?

Thanks

Well at last someone has come up with the brilliant idea of what I and possibly many others have known for ever! In my younger days I lived in London and my boyfriend (now my husband) and I walked everywhere, especially at weekends. The tube wasn't so crowded then but I just wanted to be in touch with the greatest city in the world, it still is by the way. Good luck to you in your venture. I have cut out the article from last nights Es and sent it to my daughter who is working in America at the moment. She too was a great walker around what she also considers to be the greatest city in the world. You do know you are going to have to possibly extend the idea to the other zones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Walking to you all and enjoy our beautiful capital while you are here.

Brilliant idea girls well done! I am a student at LCC and if you need someone to help draw the map in a professional tube stylie, let me know, I'm happy to help free of charge. I don't know what plans you have regarding copyright issues mentioned in London Lite, but the version here http://www.londonist.com/archives/2007/02/londonist_inter_4.php
could be improved.

Let me know, we can discuss..

Graham

Congratulations! What a great project! I was in the MA Design Studies class of 2004 at St Martins, and when I saw the article about this in the Evening Standard, i knew it had to have been done by students on that course. Well done, again!

Surprise, surprise! What a small world.

Design studies is a great course. We are all loving it.

Thanks for your comments.

Good on you. As a Time Out worker I too walk everywhere when I'm reviewing shops, restaurants, places and museums for The Time Out London for Children Guide. Sometimes I walk miles and miles because I just can't be arsed to wait for buses and I loathe the underground. I'm deeply impressed that you came up with the map – I've been trying to get people to walk throughout London for 20 years. I shall put your website in my guide.

Even if people take the buses or not, the public transport has a schedule they have to respect so we will never be able to cut the emissions this way.
